Αργότερα άρχισε να τραγουδά σε νυχτερινά κλαμπ στη Νέα Υόρκη, όπου την ανακάλυψε ο επικεφαλής της δισκογραφικής εταιρίας Arista Records, Κλάιβ Ντέιβις.
