Η Lisa, η οποία στο Instagram έχει λογαριασμό με το όνομα «ostdrossel», ανέκαθεν λάτρευε τα πουλιά και, όταν πριν από μερικά χρόνια μετακόμισε από τη Γερμανία στο Μίτσιγκαν, ενθουσιάστηκε με τα νέα είδη που συνάντησε. Όταν έφτασε τον χειμώνα την εντυπωσίασαν οι καρδερίνες και οι καρδινάλιοι ενώ την άνοιξη την παράσταση έκλεψαν τα κολιμπρί.
«Ο πατέρας μου είναι φωτογράφος και εγώ σπούδασα ΜΜΕ , οπότε μου φάνηκε σαν κάτι το φυσικό το ότι άρχισα να ασχολούμαι με τη φωτογραφία» ανέφερε, σύμφωνα με το Upworthy. «Τα θέματα ήταν πολύ όμορφα και ξένα. Ήθελα να τα μοιραστώ με την οικογένειά μου και τους φίλους μου στη Γερμανία», πρόσθεσε.
Για να αποτυπώσει ψηφιακά την αγάπη της για τα πουλιά, η Lisa σκέφτηκε μια πρωτότυπη ιδέα για να τραβήξει τις πιο εντυπωσιακές φωτογραφίες. Αυτό που σκέφτηκε ήταν να βάλει μια κρυφή κάμερα σε μια ειδική ταΐστρα ούτως ώστε να φωτογραφίζει τα πουλιά που έρχονται να φάνε. «Ουσιαστικά χρησιμοποιώ ένα αδιάβροχο κουτί στο οποίο πρόσθεσα έναν φακό φωτογραφικής μηχανής και μια action κάμερα μέσα του», εξηγεί η ίδια. Η κάμερά της μπορεί να βγάζει φωτογραφίες και βίντεο και είναι εφοδιασμένη με ανιχνευτή κίνησης και time-lapse χαρακτηριστικά.
Για να δελεάσει τα πουλιά, ύψωσε το κουτί και την ταΐστρα με ένα τρίποδο ούτως ώστε να μην το φτάνουν και άλλα ζώα (μερικά και πάλι το έφταναν). Εάν αφήσει την κάμερα όλη τη μέρα, μπορεί να τραβήξει μέχρι και 20,000 φωτογραφίες.«Η απογευματινή μου απόλαυση και ρουτίνα είναι να τις κοιτώ, να διαγράφω τις κακές και να κρατάω και να επεξεργάζομαι ελαφρώς αυτές που θεωρώ άξιες δημοσίευσης», εξομολογείται η Lisa.
