Όταν ανακοινώθηκαν για πρώτη φορά οι υποψηφιότητες των Emmy, πολλοί δυσαρεστήθηκαν που το The Bear χαρακτηρίστηκε ως κωμωδία. Το ίδιο συνέβη και με τις υποψηφιότητες των βραβείων SAG και Golden Globes, αφού το The Bear κατατάσσεται με τον ίδιο τρόπο σε όλες τις απονομές βραβείων, λέει το Buzzfeed.
Γι’ αυτό και όταν ο Jeremy Allen White κέρδισε τον Steve Martin και τον Martin Short για το βραβείο Καλύτερου Ηθοποιού σε Κωμική Σειρά, τα social γέμισαν με αντιδράσεις, οι οποίες συνεχίστηκαν όταν και ο Ebon Moss-Bachrach και η Liza Colón-Zayas κέρδισαν στις κατηγορίες τους.
Όλοι συμφωνούν ότι οι ερμηνείες του Jeremy και των συμπρωταγωνιστών του αξίζουν αναγνώριση, ωστόσο θα ήταν πιο δίκαιο αν η σειρά τοποθετούνταν στην κατηγορία του δράματος ώστε και οι κωμικοί να πάρουν την αναγνώριση που τους αξίζει.
Το βραβείο Καλύτερης Κωμικής Σειράς κέρδισε τελικά το Hacks.
